Herbal Functionals - Chamomile, Jilungin and More…

Maybe trial and error taught our ancestors a thing or two…

Mild, yes, but in conjunction with other functionals, the herbs can do more work. Recent research into why has revealed compounds like Apigenin in Chamomile.

Here’s the science;

Flavanoids are found throughout nature and have been used for hundreds or thousands of years without the express knowledge of how they worked. All that counted was that they helped at all. A large proportion of pharmaceutical drugs were inspired by botanicals if not outright extracted from them.

Jilungin is an intersting one. An Australian native that the indigenous know well for it’s calming effects. The compounds in here are a broad spectrum supporting cast of tannins and phenolics that make it its own unique contribution to Buzz Off.

And it doesn’t end there. There’s eugenol in clove, zingerone in ginger and botanical terpenes all round that have various bioactive effects and find their way into our herbal blends along with our flavours.
